Committee Chair person

Troop 90 has a new Chair person, Magaret Balaj! She has graciously volunteered to work with Mark and take over this very important position for our troop! At this time we would also like to thank Mark for all he has done for the troop, Thank you Mark for a job superbly done!

Committee Meeting:

We had a committee meeting Wednesday night that was quite productive. The Troop calendar has been updated with the meeting and activity dates and times, check it out to see all that we are doing! Future plans that we discussed and need to finalize are:

CPR training, we will need to get numbers of those that want to be trained to schedule this and the more we get the better for the Troop.

Troop 90 fund raiser, we are thinking can drive in Febuary or March after the big bowl game when lots of returnables could be had! Any other suggestions? We are open to all new ideas, bring them up at the Troop meeting or join us at a committee meeting with your ideas.

Troop Meeting minutes:

We had a good show up of scouts and parents this week but will always be looking for all of the troop to show at the meetings and camp-outs! We had a round table about scout activities, we asked the scouts to list what they wanted to do and where they want to camp on weekends. Ralph initiated this in an attempt to find out what the scouts want to do to try and increase the camp-out attendance. Laser tag and bowling are both ideas that came from this.

Den Chief Training

Be prepared to have fun, meet new and old friends, exchange ideas, and sharpen your Scouting leader skills.  You'll increase your knowledge, gain valuable skills, and find fun and exciting ways to make the program more interesting to the Scouts you serve. More than a hundred hands-on workshops and training classes will be offered.  All three programs of the Boy Scouts of America, Cub Scout, Boy Scout, and Venturing, are represented.  The material presented will help to enrich every pack, troop and crew. This training is being offered by the The Southeast Michigan University of Scouting on saturday, November 1, 2008 at Lamphere High School in Madison Heights. Lamphere is on the north side of 13 mile about 1/2 mile west of John R. Learn more by going to their web site at: http://www.cvc-bsa.org/uos08/index.html

Auto Mechanics Merit Badge

We have completed the auto mechanics merit badge. At the troop meetings we went through the safety procedures and tool identification, then we did basic maintenance, fluid checks, gas engine basic description & functions, timing settings, engine diagnostics with OTC computer & road side tire change. At Advanced automotive we did suspensions, brakes, carburetion, fuel injection, computer systems and tire rotations. This should complete the requirements so long as you attended all of the meetings. If you missed any contact Mr. Smith for a make-up session.

Camp Grayling camp-out

We have another success story here as all scouts and leaders enjoyed this camp-out! The scouts had lots of snow! they went tubing at Hanson's ski lodge, and had a Euchre tournament that saw Larry Brown win it all! 100 Tootsie pops, Congratulations Larry.

 Eagle Court of Honor

This event went beautifully for Troop 90's 45th & 46th Eagle Scouts, Keith Emery & Michael Smith . This was a very special event complete with the Order of Arrow presentation. All that attended watched a terrific presentation and heard speeches of what scouting has meant to each of these Eagle scouts.

New Senior Patrol Leader! (SPL)

Rivers Bend Webelo welcome

Troop 90 set up camp at the Rivers Bend Recreation Area and welcomed local Webelo troops to come visit us and see how we operate. The event appeared to be a great success! The troop built a rope bridge, took a day hike and prepared our tin foil dinners complete with dutch oven cherry cobbler pies to complete the meals.

LASER TAG!!!

The scouts all appeared to have a great time last tuesday at Beamerz! They played two games of laser tag, ate 6 pizzas and downed four pitchers of pop in no time flat!, so in another words the event was a huge success! Thank you to Mr. Emery our divine Scoutmaster for arranging this as all enjoyed our time at Beamerz!

Isle Royal June 18-28 2009:

We have had alot of discussion with the scouts about adventure camp and this is the destination that gets asked for the most, so we have made plans to camp and hike Isle Royal on June 18th - 28th. The tenative cost for this is $300.00 per scout, that will include the ferry rides, camp fees, and gas for the chaperone vehicles.

Mr. Ralph EmeryTakes Over as our New ScoutMaster for Troop 90 - Mr Emery has become Troop 90's newest ScoutMaster succeeding Mr Georgevich. Mr Emery has enough energy alone to help carry troop 90 into what looks to be a great and exciting future. He has a lot of experience in scouting and has played several adult leadership roles. He plans to continue helping scouts find new and exciting adventures to experience.

Troop 90 visits the Wright-Patterson Airforce Musuem and also Conquers Urban Krag-  Troop 90 motored down to Dayton Ohio and spent a day at the always awesome Wright-Patterson Airforce museum, Then we cruised on over to this old rebuilt church renamed Urban Krag, which has been turned into an indoor rock climbing establishment. The scouts spent Saturday evening scaling the walls and having a good time. The turnout was high as scouts and adults enjoyed the weekend activities.
